We talked with a superintendent whose district has taken the pledge to meet children where they are and give them what they need, in school and out of school. Sto-Rox School District has embraced high-quality research to ensure they provide focused resources on cradle-to-career services to close opportunity gaps and create pathways to educational achievement and economic mobility. The district is overcoming systemic barriers by building effective systems using implementation science. Meet Ms. Megan Van Fossan
Ms. Megan Van Fossan has been involved in education for over 25 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education from The Ohio State University. Ms. Van Fossan earned a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from George Mason University and a Masters Degree in Secondary Education from The University of Alabama. Ms. Van Fossan achieved her Certificate in Advanced Education Leadership from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, her Public Leadership Credential from Harvard Kennedy F. Kennedy School of Government, and her Certificate in School Management and Leadership from the Harvard Business School. Ms. Van Fossan earned her Superintendent Letter of Eligibility from Edinboro University. Her most current position in administration is Superintendent of Schools at Sto-Rox School District in McKees Rocks, PA. Prior, Ms. Van Fossan served in a number of leadership positions, and has spoken widely on universal design for learning, leadership and equity.
