What is EarlyBird at Home?
Get Assessed
The program starts with EarlyBird's award-winning assessment, giving you a detailed view of your child's unique reading profile. Developed in partnership with Boston Children's Hospital and The Florida Center for Reading Research, the assessment is has been used by over 60,000 children across the country.
The Pip School App
Alongside the friendly toucan Pip, your child will play research-backed games to master critical reading and comprehension skills. We recommend your child plays for a total of 2 hours a week across 4-6 sessions.
Dedicated Expert Support
When you sign up for EarlyBird at Home, you get paired with a dedicated Literacy Specialist. Our Literacy Specialists are dyslexia experts with 10+ years of experience working with children with dyslexia and other reading challenges. You'll meet with your Literacy Specialist monthly, get weekly check-ins, and have access to them for on-demand support as questions arise.

Nadine Gaab, PhD.
Co-Founder, Scientific Advisor
Dr. Gaab is an associate professor of Education at Harvard University. Her work focuses on typical/atypical learning trajectories from infancy to adolescence, with a special emphasis on language/reading development and the role of the environment in shaping these trajectories.
Her work is at the intersection of developmental psychology, learning sciences, neuroscience, EdTech, and educational policy within a learning disability framework.
Yaacov Petscher, PhD.
Co-Founder, Scientific Advisor
Dr. Petscher is a Professor of Social Work at Florida State University, an Associate Director of the Florida Center for Reading Research, and the Director of the Quantitative Methodology and Innovation Division at FCRR. Yaacov’s work is focused on measurement, causal modeling, the study of individual differences in reading using complex methodologies, and the development of screening assessments and computer adaptive tests.
Carla Small
Co-Founder, CEO
As a mom of a child with dyslexia, Carla is focused on transforming children’s lives by saving them the downstream anxiety and self-esteem issues that are often associated with poor reading ability. Carla led the Digital Health Accelerator at Boston Children's Hospital, where EarlyBird was first developed and validated. As CEO of EarlyBird, she pairs her business acumen with her lived experience to develop products that help parents, children, and educators
